A Resource Guide to Georgia Marriage Records; by Georgia Genealogical Society; 2006; 282 pp; Hardback; ISBN: 9780978991609; Item # GAG502
Georgia marriage records are scattered in many places. The Publications Committee of the Georgia Genealogical Society took on the project of identifying and consolidating into book form all the available sources for marriage records in Georgia. This book will save researchers a substantial amount of time by identifying records that they may have overlooked. Every attempt was made to include all known sources, although there is a possbility that some may have been inadvertently excluded. Remember, the most reliable source of marriages are those recorded in Georgia's county probate courts. However, if you can't locate a recorded marriage for your ancestors, there are other possible sources, e.g., church records, family Bible records, references in wills, deeds, estate papers, newspaper abstracts, etc.
